CBD for pets: Why your dog and cat may thank you for a pet CBD treatment

The introduction of industrial hemp in manufacturing has paved the way for the new products we are seeing these days. This variant of the cannabis plant can be used as a component in making clothes, paper, construction materials, biofuel, plastic, and even body products such as soaps, lotions, and shampoo.

Just like the other cannabis variant, marijuana, hemp contains cannabinoids. The two most prominent cannabinoids are cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Both of them are said to have medical benefits for people. However, the latter has a distinct effect that can alter the state of mind of the person consuming it. To put simply, THC can give a person that euphoric or high feeling—a concern for drug watchdogs.

But unlike THC, CBD does not alter a person’s state of mind while providing the benefits it is lauded for such as combating cancer cells and tumor and relieving pain, anxiety, and stress. This makes it the better option when it comes to the legality of its consumption.

Each cannabinoid’s concentration differs in every variation of the cannabis plant. Industrial hemp carries more CBD than THC while it is the other way around for marijuana. Companies and consumers have alike have started getting the most out of CBD and its medical uses.

As more people get access to CBD products, they also realize that the cannabis compound can also help pets in terms of the health concerns they face. Similar to how it works for humans, CBD can also lower our pets’ anxiety, calm them down when they are stressed or aggressive and restore their appetites. It can help pets afflicted with skin allergies, chronic pain, joint pain, arthritis, glaucoma, and cancer as well as it slows down the production of cancer cells in the body.

Additionally, it can also help cats that are suffering from asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreatitis as CBD is also known to treat inflammation.

NBC-2 reported back in November 2017 that some veterinarians saw its medical benefits, with one veterinarian named Tim Shu creating an oil because pets cannot handle the side effects that pharmaceuticals bring.

Pet owner Rachel Martin tried the oil to her dog Sophie, who has cancer. Sophie’s veterinarian previously stated that she only has two months to live, which prompted Martin to look for treatments that can help Sophie. When Martin added the oil to Sophie’s food every time the dog eats, things have improved for her canine friend.

Martin said, “In those two months, it was a complete turnaround, and I was sold. She came back from the brink and got a whole new lease on life.”

In the same article, another pet owner named Jody Belliveau is worried about Tyson, her pug. He cannot use his hind legs anymore because of arthritis. She even took Tyson to acupuncture sessions, which lasted for six weeks and cost her $125 per session.

When Belliveau used CBD oil to treat Tyson’s condition, it worked—he can walk again. It also trimmed down her expenses because the said treatment only cost her $80.

With such effects and the fact that pharmaceutical drugs have difficult side effects for our pets, Shu recommends the use of CBD as a treatment despite them still being illegal under federal law and in some states in the United States.

Diamond CBD’s oils for pets

With CBD gaining momentum, companies within the said industry have been making products filled with the cannabinoid. In the United States, one of these companies is PotNetwork Holding, Inc. (OTCMKTS:POTN), a leading company in the CBD industry.

PotNetwork sells its CBD products such as dabs, oils, oral drops, vape additives and liquids, and snacks via Diamond CBD, one of its subsidiaries. It also offers CBD oils for pets—cats and small, medium, and large dogs.

Pet owners can easily add these oils to their pets’ diets. Mixing in a few drops of the pet CBD oil in their pets’ foods or treats to help them with their health concerns and to maintain them in their best condition.

The Pet CBD Food comes in bacon flavor for dogs to enjoy their road to a healthy and long life. Meanwhile, its variant for cats does not have any flavor. And even though it was developed specifically for dogs and cats, some owners use it to improve the health of their pet birds, horses, and even reptiles.

Medipets is Diamond CBD’s premium line of 100% natural and all-organic CBD oil for pets. Like Pet CBD Food, it can be easily added to the pets’ food and treats in order to enrich their overall health. It also has formulas meant for dogs of various sizes and for cats.

So if you are looking for ways to keep your furry companions healthy, it would be no harm to consider trying out these products which bear no negative side effects, making them safe to consume.
